Why do we use Grass-Fed Tallow?
Grass-fed tallow is one of the key ingredients to these recipes as tallow has a remarkably close cell structure to that of the human skin. Tallow actually provides key elements we need to maintain healthy, sturdy, cell integrity.
Well, consider this. Our skin is biologically compatible with tallow in that they both contain 50-55% saturated fats (which are actually a good thing contrary to popular discussion), which help maintain skin cell integrity and tone.
In addition, both Tallow and Sebum (found naturally in skin) consist primarily of triglycerides, which allow for easy absorption of nutrients.
If that is not reason enough to slap a wad of it on your skin, consider this as well. Grass-fed tallow is full of antioxidants and nutrients such as Vitamins A, D E and K, anti-microbial palmitoleic acid, and CLA (conjugated linoleic acids), which boasts anti-inflammatory qualities and has been linked to cancer prevention.
